After an eventful (not!) April 1st, we’ve been exploring Tokyo. Amazing place! In a funny way probably the most different so far.
The people are very friendly, incredibly polite. We are practicing our bowing to show respect back! There is a strong social etiquette, which feels a bit intimidating - we can only imagine how the Japanese tourists feel when they come to Paris!
Yesterday we went to see the cherry blossoms at Ueno Park. There, we had cherry blossom-flavoured ice cream, and other delicious street food.
We also went to the Tokyo zoo. There are obviously some ethical questions about keeping animals like this, but they were keen to emphasise natural conservation efforts that go on alongside this, and the animals did seem to have a good amount of room.
The highlight was seeing the giant pandas. Never have we seen a critter taking such obvious, well-expressed pleasure in eating bamboo! Big queue to see them, but worth it!
Today we are doing a cooking class, and going to a Ninja Restaurant tomorrow! More food-related posts to follow...
